Patrick Marziale

Marriage and Family Therapy Clinician in Training

My name is Patrick Marziale, and I was born and raised in upstate New York in a small town called Holland Patent. I am currently a clinician in training, which has been my long-term goal and passion due to past experiences with individual therapy. For the past 21 years and 10 months, I have served the U.S. Army as an indirect fire infantryman, and I am now starting a new chapter. For the past two years, I have been working on my masters in Marriage and Family Therapy, emphasizing trauma-based therapy. My intent and desire are to provide support and assistance to individuals and families who have suffered from traumatic events.

I am happily married, a father to both dogs, cats, and two children, and have a deep understanding of the nuances, stresses, and requirements of managing multiple factors at once. I enjoy reading, woodworking, and spending time with my family. I have also deployed several times overseas and been assigned to various countries during my service. This has led me to develop a deep respect for the diversity in our world, as well as a deep understanding of how stressful life can be. From this, I wish to assist clients in finding their paths through life to their desired outcome, build and execute positive actions, and help clients find and seize their potential. Dr. Barron will be helping me refine those passions and, with her supervision, will help me enable my clients to achieve their aspirations and find resolutions based on their desires.

Finally, I have suffered from traumatic events, and one such event caused me to lose my left leg below the knee. Due to both my desire to remain in the military and the benefit of a program designed to enable that process, I was allowed to continue to serve. My time at Walter Reed and adjusting to a disability showed me the power of compassion, empathy, and at times, humor. It is because of this that I want to work with veterans and individuals who have suffered from traumatic events and understand the hard work that comes with adjusting to a new reality. I also love helping those with disabilities learn that disability is not a permanent end; it is just the start of a new chapter, and they can still accomplish great things despite their disability. I also volunteer with Operation Giveback for gold star families, the Wounded Warrior Project, and the Soldier Ride.
